Summarising activity in the world of graphene and 2D materials, this Special Edition supports the Industry showcase and the Graphene engineering Innovation Centre. We report on graphene enhanced concrete, graphene nanoribbons beginning to appear in practical applications ranging from heated windscreen to spinal injury repair as well as laying the groundwork for new more powerful computers as integrated circuits can be made smaller with graphene. Other stand out work has been done in China where an artificial larynx has been made from graphene components. This wearable patch picked up movements in a person’s throat and converted this into an electrical signal that powered a loudspeaker. We also report on graphene enhanced lubricant. The lubricant oil sold out when launched on the market in South Korea. Whilst companies have announced patents, in membranes and textiles respectively.
